Sugar Bear Hair – True or False?
People that are suffering from hair loss are known to be open to almost any idea about how to regain their hair. From the use of Rogaine and Propecia to a hair transplant, there any many options available to address the issue of hair loss. Have you heard of the hair loss treatment that is a vitamin shaped like one you would give a child? It actually exists and it is said to promote hair growth! The name of this vitamin treatment is “Sugar Bear Hear”. Let’s take an in-depth look at whether or not it is effective in battling hair loss.
Sugar Bear Hear Examined
Sugar Bear Hair is a vitamin that, according to their website, “has been shown to promote faster hair growth, increased hair shine and reduce hair breakage.” It is also described as “Revolutionary Hair Vitamins”.
The vitamin is designed to be taken daily by patients and it contains 15 vitamins and active ingredients. The list of vitamins and active ingredients include (but are not limited to):
- Vitamins A, C, D, E, B-6 and B-12
- Folic Acid
- Iodine
- Zinc
- Choline
This daily vitamin, that is available in a regular vitamin bottle, is also made with real berries, coconut oil and sugar. Essentially Sugar Bear Hair is like a multi-vitamin that is taken by patients. It also includes Biotin (vitamin B1) which can help the body to convert food into energy.
Vitamin Deficiency and Hair Loss – Is There a Connection?
My interest in educating patients about the role that vitamins play in hair loss dates back to over a decade ago. As I wrote all the way back in 2008, vitamin deficiency is not to blame for what I call the triangle of baldness which is “gene, male gender and time”. The public can certainly take vitamins to feel better on a daily basis but the daily use of vitamins is not going to help bring back hair that has been lost in the past. No matter what advertising copy or marketing slogan is put in front of the public; that is not going to happen by taking vitamins.
I revisited the topic of vitamins as it relates to hair loss a few years later in a 2013 blogpost. Even though some doctors prescribe Biotin (vitamin B1) in their treatment plans for hair loss, there is not really any scientific evidence or studies currently available that support the idea of multivitamins helping to cure the issue of hair loss. People who do not suffer from malnutrition will not need to take any extra vitamins. This means that taking a vitamin on a daily basis, such as Sugar Bear Hair, will not help combat hair loss suffered by a person.
The first step any patient should take in the hair restoration process is scheduling a consultation appointment with a board-certified doctor. The physician can perform a thorough examination of the scalp in order to determine the cause of the hair loss. The doctor will also create a plan to restore hair density and give a patient the hairline he desires.
